Modelling career

Kelly Brook's modelling career began at 16 after winning a beauty competition, in which she was entered by her mother. She later worked on a range of advertising campaigns, including for Foster's Lager, Renault Megane, Walkers crisps, Piz Buin and Bravissimo, a company that specialises in bras and lingerie for large-breasted women. Her figure eventually caught the eye of the editorial team of the Daily Star tabloid, which began featuring her as a Page Three girl.

Brook's picture soon began appearing in other lad mags such as GQ, Loaded and FHM. In April of the same year, a poll over 5,000 women for Grazia magazine considered her to have the best British female body. She also topped the 'FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World' list in 2005, which was said to have polled 15 million people. Appearing in this list every year since 1998, she ranked #34 in 2008, #67 in 2009 and #7 in 2010. She was the cover star of FHM's World Cup 2010 special issue, and was on the cover of the magazine in April 2011.

Brook made her full screen debut with a minor role in the film Sorted. Shortly thereafter, she appeared in the film Ripper. She played the girlfriend of Clark Kent/Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor in four episodes of the American Science Fiction drama Smallville during the show's first season (2001–2002). She has also completed assignments as a movie actress in Canada and made a short appearance as Lyle's girlfriend in the 2003 movie The Italian Job.

Her first starring role was in School for Seduction, a 2004 film – she received positive reviews for her role, "Seduction offers a few twists on the rapidly degenerating format, not the least of which is the comely Brook in the lead role." In 2004, she played character Nikki Morris in the video game Need for Speed Underground 2, alongside Brooke Burke. In 2005, she appeared in the Philippe Vidal film House of 9, a thriller about nine seemingly unconnected strangers captured and locked in a house together. The people are forced to compete against one another, in order to survive.

Also in 2006, Kelly Brook starred in a Marple drama on ITV and appeared as herself throughout the second series of Moving Wallpaper, also for ITV, in 2009. She acted in the science fiction thriller Shadow Play, directed by Nick Simon.

Brook had a leading role in the horror comedy remake Piranha 3D. The film received a worldwide theatrical release on August 20, 2010. Piranha 3D grossed $83,188,163 on a budget of $24,000,000.

Kristen Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her father, John Stewart, is a stage manager and television producer who has worked for Fox. Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, is a script supervisor originally from Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia. She has an older brother, Cameron Stewart, and an adoptive brother, Taylor. Stewart attended school until the seventh grade, and then continued her education by correspondence. Kristen Stewart has since completed high school.

Career

Her whole family all worked behind the camera, and Stewart thought she would become a writer/director, but never considered being an actor. "I never wanted to be the center of attention – I wasn't that 'I want to be famous, I want to be an actor' kid. I never sought out acting, but I always practiced my autograph because I love pens. I'd write my name on everything." Stewart's acting career began at the age of eight, after an agent saw her perform in her elementary school's Christmas play. After a year of auditioning, Stewart's first role was a nonspeaking part in the film The Thirteenth Year. Then, she had another part in the film The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas as the "ring toss girl". She subsequently appeared in the independent film The Safety of Objects, in which she played the tomboy daughter of a troubled single mother (Patricia Clarkson). Stewart had a major role in the Hollywood film Panic Room, playing the diabetic daughter of a divorced mother (Jodie Foster). The film received generally positive reviews, and Stewart garnered positive notices for her performance. Kristen Stewart was nominated for a Young Artist Award for her performance.

After Panic Room's success, Stewart was cast in another thriller, Cold Creek Manor, playing the daughter of Dennis Quaid's and Sharon Stone's characters. Stewart was on the set of Adventureland when director Catherine Hardwicke visited her for an informal screen test which "captivated" the director. She stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen, her character's vampire boyfriend. The film began production in February 2008 and finished filming in May 2008. Twilight was released domestically on November 21, 2008. Her performance garnered mixed reviews with some critcs calling her "the ideal casting choice" and praising her for conveying "Bella's detachment, as well as her need to bust through it" while others criticized her acting for being "wooden" and lacking variety in her facial expressions which they described as "blank". In 2009, Kristen Stewart starred in The Yellow Handkerchief, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and was released into theaters in 2010 by Samuel Goldwyn Films. Stewart most recently portrayed rock star Joan Jett in The Runaways, a biopic of the titular band from writer-director Floria Sigismondi. As of tonight I have a new entry on my list of favourite actresses. Lara Pulver has joined the cast of the BBC's Robin Hood.

Now, I've managed to get through the last couple of years without watching a single episode of this show but when I saw a photo of Lara earlier today in a TV listings mag I shallowly decided to check it out. (She's exactly my type and has a "young Dr Weir from Stargate Atlantis" thing going on.)

It turned out to be a fun episode. Nothing too earth shattering. Lots of running around the forrest and a bit of sword fighting.

Lara plays Isabella, the sister of the villainous Guy of Gisborne, played by ladies favourite Richard Armitage. We discover that he sold her for marrage at the age of 13. Now years later she has escaped and is looking for protection from her husband.

I've not seen Lara in anything else and according to the IMDB Robin Hood appears to be her first television appearance, although she's appeared on the stage.

My decision for tonight: I shall watch Robin Hood for as long as she appears in it! As an added bonus we get Toby Stephens chewing the scenery as prince John from next week.

A number of sites including digitalspy.co.uk are reporting the news that Lara Pulver will play the recurring role of Sookie’s fairy godmother Claudine in the third series of True Blood.

This is of interest to me as I became a big fan of Lara when she turned up in the third series of the BBC's Robin Hood this time last year playing Gisborne's sister Isabella.

I've not seen much of True Blood beyond the first couple of episodes, but I guess I'll be making an effort!

Beckinsale had an eight-year relationship with Welsh actor Michael Sheen from 1995 until 2003. They met when cast in a touring production of The Seagull in early 1995 and moved in together shortly afterwards. She has said it was "love at first sight" and that he saved her from "a hospital for the criminally insane". In 1997, they appeared in a radio production of Romeo and Juliet. Their daughter, Lily Mo, was born in London, England on 31 January 1999. The actress has said she was "embarrassed" that Sheen never proposed but remarked, "If you keep a library book out long enough, you feel it's yours."

Their relationship ended in early 2003, after the filming of Underworld. Kate Beckinsale had persuaded director Len Wiseman to cast Sheen in the film but, while on set, she and Wiseman (who was married) fell in love. All parties have maintained there was no infidelity and Beckinsale and Wiseman both remain friends with Sheen. "We were very lucky in that we didn't have an acrimonious split," Beckinsale has said. "We are still very close and sees us around each other." "I love him dearly – I would miss him dreadfully if he wasn't in my life."

She relocated with her daughter from London to Los Angeles in 2003 to live with Wiseman. She has said she is "a fish out of water" in LA but that residing in London would be impractical for Wiseman's career. They married in 2004 at the Hotel Bel-Air in California, choosing a passage from Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass as their first reading. While she is not religious, she has said it was "very nice to be asked , which I wasn't in my previous relationship". Since their marriage, Wiseman has directed her in two further films: an Underworld sequel and Total Recall. She has no plans for more children: "Maybe I will at some point but I feel I have everything I want. Lily is the perfect child ... I am my mum and dad’s only child so I don’t really have the mindset for more children."
